DForce Hacker Who Stole $25 Million Mysteriously Returns the Same Amount in Different Balance of Cryptocurrencies

The hacker who drained $25 million in Ethereum, Bitcoin, and USD Stablecoins from decentralized finance protocol dForce over the weekend sent back almost all the stolen assets over two days. Newspapers Across the U.S. Suffer From Delayed Distribution of Print Editions Following Malware Attack

A malware attack, reportedly an unconfirmed infection by the Ryuk ransomware, that appears to be of foreign origin caused major printing and delivery disruptions at newspapers in every major market across the U.S. on Saturday including the Los Angeles Times, New York Times and Wall Street Journal. The intent of the attack was to destroy infrastructure and not to steal information, according to a source. The Los Angeles Times first detected the problem on Friday. The attack led to the delayed distribution of Saturday print newspapers which use a shared production platform including The Los Angeles Times, the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun and several other major newspapers.

U.S. Intel Agencies Eye Russia as Qatar News Agency Hacker, Report

A hack of Qatar’s state run news agency, which is at the center of a crisis in the Gulf States, may have been committed by Russian state actors U.S. intelligence agencies believe. In late May unknown hackers broke into the news agency’s website and social media accounts and implanted what officials in Qatar contend are fake and inflammatory articles. The incident sparked a feud that ended up banning all Qatar-based media, including Al Jazeera, across UAE, Saudi Arabia and Egypt. It also further fueled regional tensions, under the strain of which Saudi Arabia and UAE cut economic and political ties with Qatar.

Former U.S. Intel Community Hackers Helped UAE Spy on Al Jazeera, BBC Host, Other Prominent Media Figures During Tense Situation With Qatar

A group of American hackers who once worked for the U.S. intelligence community,  including at least nine former employees of the National Security Agency and the U.S. military, became operatives working on Project Raven, a secret Emirati intelligence program that spied on dissidents, militants and political opponents of the UAE monarchy. While working on Project Raven, they spied on a BBC host, the chairman of Al Jazeera and other prominent Arab media figures during a tense 2017 confrontation pitting the UAE and its allies against the Gulf state of Qatar. Amid a tense standoff between UAE and its allies and Qatar, the UAE camp demanded a series of actions, including shuttering the Qatar-funded Al Jazeera satellite television network, withdrawal of other Doha-supported media outlets and cracks downs on the Muslim Brotherhood. In June 2017, followed a blockade of Qatar, the Project Raven operatives launched operations to break into the Apple iPhones of at least 10 journalists and media executives they believed had connections to the Qatari government or the Muslim Brotherhood, according to documents and sources. The objectives of the hacks were to show that Qatar had influenced Al Jazeera’s and other media outlets’ content and uncover any ties between the prominent network and the Muslim Brotherhood.
