HackerOne Raises $36.4 Million in Series D Round, Total Funding to Date Reaches $110 Million

Bug bounty platform HackerOne announced that it has raised $36.4 million in a Series D round of funding led by Valor Equity Partners, with participation from Benchmark, New Enterprise Associates, Dragoneer Investment Group, and EQT Ventures, among others. With the new round of funding, HackerOne has raised its total funding to $110 million.

BlackBerry Announces New Unit Dedicated to Cybersecurity R&D With Particular Focus on Machine Learning

BlackBerry has announced a new business unit, the BlackBerry Advanced Technology Development Labs (BlackBerry Labs), dedicated entirely to cybersecurity research and development (R&D), with a particular focus on machine learning. The new unit will be headed by BlackBerry chief technology officer (CTO) Charles Eagan, who will lead a team of 120 researchers, security experts, software developers, architects, and more. The lab, which is still under construction, will be based at the company’s operations center in Waterloo, Canada.

Data Privacy Protection Software Company Privatar Raises $40 Million in Series B Round

London-based data privacy protection software start-up Privatar has raised $40 million in a Series B round of funding led by Accel, with participation from Partech, Salesforce Ventures, IQ Capital, and 24Haymarket. Privatar’s platform aims to facilitate companies’ ability to leverage large, sensitive data sets while ensuring compliance with regulations and ethical data principles. Its three main products are Privitar Publisher, which features “privacy engineering techniques” such as data-masking and k-anonymity, Privitar Lens, which is touted as a platform for building “privacy-preserving access to sensitive data sets,” and Privitar SecureLink, a data-linking system designed to thwart data silos and “overcome trust barriers” between multiple organizations looking to share information with each other.

Exabeam Raises $75 Million in Series E Round of Funding

Security information and event management (SIEM) company Exabeam has raised $75 million in a Series E round of venture funding co-led by Sapphire Ventures and Lightspeed Venture Partners, with participation from all existing investors, including Cisco’s investment arm. Prior to this round, Exabeam had raised $115 million, including a $50 million round just eight months ago, and with another $75 million in the bank.
